For my AS-Level Media Studies coursework I was tasked with designing a front cover, contents page and double-page spread for an imaginary music-related magazine centred around a genre of personal choice. We were required to document our progress by use of a Blogger account, and so the following is excerpts from certain key posts that most accurately display the thought and knowledge that went into the final pieces. I’ve posted this here to help anyone who is on a similar course regarding what to write and focus on when forming their evaluation.
This was my magazine cover from my A level Media Studies coursework. I have never really been 100% sure but i would definatley consider becoming a magazine editor.

This video was awarded A-Level A*.My A2 media studies coursework comprised of a short film trailer with two ancillary tasks, a film poster and film review in the style of a magazine double page spread. I chose the genre of psychological-horror for my short film, which I displayed throughout my pieces with research into codes and conventions. I did this in order to narrow the possible target audience which would allow the film to attract said audience and have a higher chance of a successful engaging film. I chose to target young people from the ages of 15-18 because of their affiliation with the genre. I also had the best access to them as I am 18 and my sister is 15. Any research that I needed to do to enquire the audience’s preferences could be done with easy access with friends my and her age. As the age group put them into the student category, I was simultaneously targeting the social demographic grade E. However, due to the subtlety of the plot, my target audience would have to have a certain level of intelligence –possibly future social demographic grade A-B. This is the evaluation of my A2 media coursework pieces.Further images in relation to my media studies coursework can be seen within my Photobucket album, and as previously stated the full documentation of this work can be found on the Blogger link at the top of this article.
